Turkey - Factors To Watch on Oct 18
ANKARA, Oct 18 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Friday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 34.16000-34.2200 against the U.S. dollar at 0430 GMT, compared with Thursday's close of 34.1600.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.52% higher at 9,002.34 points on Thursday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
China stocks rose on Friday as the central bank officially launched a swap facility aimed at boosting the equity market, although shares elsewhere in Asia were mixed in the wake of data confirming a slowdown in the world's second-largest economy.
SOUTH CAUCASUS PLATFORM
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his counterparts Russia's Sergei Lavrov, Iran's Abbas Araqchi, Azerbaijan's Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenia's Ararat Mirzoyan will meet in Istanbul for the third meeting of South Caucasus Regional Cooperation Platform (0800 GMT).
ERDOGAN SCHEDULE
President Tayyip Erdogan will attend an event of Turkish Employers Association of Metal Industries in Istanbul (1100 GMT) and then will meet with foreign ministers of Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan and Armenia (1300 GMT).
TRADE MINISTER
Trade Minister Omer Bolat will attend a ministerial meeting of the Organisation of Turkic States in Bishkek.
TRANSPORT MINISTER
Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu will attend an inauguration ceremony for the freight train between Istanbul and Budapest (0700 GMT).
CENBANK RATE DECISION
Turkey's central bank held interest rates at 50% on Thursday as expected but warned that a bump in recent inflation data lifted uncertainty, in a hawkish signal that could reinforce views that policy easing won't begin until next year.
2025 BUDGET
Turkey has allocated 1.57 trillion lira ($45.99 billion) for investments in its draft budget for next year, amounting to some 10.7% of the planned expenditure, Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said on Thursday.
