ON A ROLL
The main U.S. indexes rallied on Friday, boosted by an earnings-driven jump in Netflix NFLX.O shares and as well as strength in other tech titans.
Wall Street's three major benchmarks, the S&P 500 .SPX, the Dow .DJI and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC, are on a roll in terms of their weekly win streaks, having now all risen six weeks in a row. That's the longest such streak since all three advanced together for nine straight weeks from early November to late December 2023.
The NYSE FANG index .NYFANG, which includes all of the Magnificent Seven stocks, outperformed on the day with a more than 1% gain.
Gold stocks .HUI jumped more than 4%. This as gold XAU= passed the $2,700 mark for the first time. That said, gold faces a big barrier on the charts.
In any event, a number of indexes ended at record closing highs on Friday, including the SPX, DJI, NYSE Composite .NYA, S&P 100 .OEX, Russell 1000 .RUI, S&P 400 mid-caps .IDX, as well as the S&P financial .SPSY, industrial .SPLRCI and materials .SPLRCM sectors.
